I made it up to Lake Hodges this morning to see the Thick-billed Kingbird. According to the San Diego Bird Atlas this is only the 6th reported sighting in San Diego County and the 17th for California! Interestingly the 16th sighting was from this year as well - in LA.
I was the first birder on the scene this morning. It took me a while to find the bird - which I first found by sound, not sight. I had great looks initially, but it had moved off by the time I got my camera. I re-found it quickly, but I was never able to get a good picture of it. I'll see if any of the ones I got are worth posting when I review them tonight.
