Is that lunch up there?

This is one of the pair of juvenile Cooper's Hawks I saw near the Hollister/Sunset sod fields. They started on the top of a power pole, but then they squabbled and one flew off to the west. The one that was left then made a low pass along a weedy strip that was between the grassy field and some horse stables. He was probably after any of the small birds that were flitting around in the area: song sparrows, common yellowthroats, black phoebes, california towhees, etc. After his failed hunting attempt he landed on a fence and let me get some good shots of him at eye level. After a few minutes some red-winged blackbirds landed on the powerlines overhead - drawing his attention.
